Kelvin's Faith Unfiltered

Meet Kelvin – A Trusted Voice in Theological and Biblical Book Recommendations

“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” —Albert Einstein

I’m not comparing myself to Einstein, but I’ve always resonated deeply with that quote. I haven’t earned advanced theological degrees, and I didn’t attend an Ivy League school. In fact, I never went to college at all. My wife and I have built our life through hard work—me in banking operations, her in supply chain. And yet, despite all of that, I have become an unconventional, deeply curious student of theology, and someone people turn to for trusted, thoughtful book recommendations.

I was born in Akron, Ohio in 1985 and raised in a Christian home where faith was part of the fabric of daily life. I attended a private Christian school, memorized Scripture, went to church on Sundays and Wednesdays, and watched my father sing in a gospel band. That foundation was strong—but not without its challenges. A confusing church split during my teenage years would go on to reshape my view of Christian community, even as my faith in God remained steady.

During that same period, a high school mentor introduced me to Systematic Theology, and my world opened up. I found clarity and purpose in studying doctrine—things like the Trinity, the nature of Christ, and biblical ethics. Over time, my studies expanded to include Biblical Theology and Critical Studies, which helped me interpret Scripture not just as a collection of doctrines, but as a cohesive, unfolding story with historical and literary context. These three disciplines—systematic theology, biblical theology, and critical studies—have helped shape not just what I believe, but how I read and how I live.

Over the past 20+ years, I’ve built a diverse and growing library across traditions, perspectives, and time periods. I read widely—not just to reinforce what I already think, but to stretch my understanding. That’s why people come to me for book recommendations. I don’t just suggest titles—I help people find resources that are thought-provoking, meaningful, and relevant to where they are in their walk with God.

Whether you're a pastor preparing for a sermon, a parent discipling your children, a skeptic curious about what the Bible actually contains, or a deconstructionist working through your ideas—I want to help you find books that matter. I aim to be clear, humble, and approachable in everything I write and share. I'm not here to impress—I’m here to invite you into a stronger curiosity and deeper interest in the Bible.

That’s why I am in the process of creating Kelvin’s Faith Unfiltered: A Bookstore for the Modern Reader. It’s not a traditional bookstore—it’s a curated space where I share reviews, reflections, and recommendations to help you build a thoughtful, well-rounded personal library. It’s not about building a platform. It’s about building people's desire to grow in the knowledge of the Bible—the most fascinating and influential book in all of human history.

Fueled by passionate curiosity and grounded in years of study, my hope is that this space helps guide you toward the kind of books that sharpen your mind, stir your heart, and help you build your worldview.
